hi Can someone give me the correct tyre sizes for my 1998 V70 2.5T I had 4 new tyres fittid at a tyre centre for my MOT MoT tester says they are not correct fitment for the car yet ATS Tyres put them on 4 hours ago! He cant give me a certificate! Steve
Hi, My V70 SE 2.5 1998 has 205/50R, it is not turbo but has lower sports chassis. My brother has V70 1999 2.5T and has 205/55R. Both car's have 16" rims. Hope this helps a bit.
Are they original Volvo wheels? What size are the wheels (15/16/17" ?) and what tyres have you had fitted. Just because they're not original fitment they won't fail an MoT there must be something specifically wrong with them, can the MoT station give you a more specific reason why they're failing it e.g. they will rub, wrong speed rating, load index too low? Cheers, John

as John says,as long as the tyres themselves are legal they can't fail it. All they will usually do is put an advisory on it that the wheels/tyres are not the recommended size. Either there is some other reason or they don't know their job!
Thanks for your advice guys. Am going back today to ask more questions. Funny though as its ATS who have just opened an MOT test bay in the unit next door. Trying to get business? Nah - wouldn't have thought so!!!
have a look here you should be able to find the answer you are looking for. Failing that, my mate is an mot tester at the local volvo dealership in perth (strathmore motors) I will give him a call for you and find out, but it would be handy to know the tyre sizes you have on now. cheers daz
ok, just phoned my mate who was none to pleased as he was halfway through an MOT!!! As long as the wheel size and tyre size match ie 16inch wheels and 16inch tyres, no mixing of tyres sizes (they all have to be the same) and they are not rubbing on any part of the bodywork, unless it is an S60 (there was some sort of notice on them due to the factory fitted tyres rubbing, but is supposedly within acceptable limits) Other than the above they can not fail for anything due to size. Personally I would be straight back to the tyre fitters and have them check they have put on the correct sizes and if they are the wrong ones have the car refitted with correct size and make them pay for any retest fees. If they are the correct size for the rim, my mate suggests you take it up with the ministry of transport as it seems a bit of a con. cheers daz
