Do they ever just go??????

MessageAuthor

O.K folks, it is obvious we all love our S60s, but are there people out there who own one and do NOT have problems? I bought a Nissan Tino (yeah yeah I know, but it was kind on the knees getting in) but it was only when after 3 trouble free years I though, "I'll sell it before I have any mechanical problems", Ha bloody ha. 2 months into the sexy, sleek S60 and I'm looking at another clutch and G/Box, top engine mount, already done the cam belt (as part of a 3 year trouble free plan). The occassional hunting on the throttle suggests other expensive fixes on the way. Please someone tell me they have one that did not cost them big time for at least 3 months?????? It's about time watchdog revived the farce that is Volvo UK. Evening rant over, but I still feel a bit sick, what happened to the reliable reputation.

I have a 52 reg S60 D5 and done 10,000 miles since I purchased it in March. Only expensive so far has been new front discs and pads and the car has now done 55,000 miles. Happy so far.

Had my S60 for 2 years now, and she's sound. (04 plate) I do have a slight squeak when turning at less than 5mph which I still havn't troubleshooted - but that's been there for well over a year and hasn't degraded any further. I thought one of the leccy wing-mirrors was on it's last legs a few weeks ago - but seems fine again now. Steering groaned about a year ago - found it was just low on fluid, not had a problem since. Always starts first time. Not even had a bulb failure yet. No parts changed other than standard consumables when serviced. Can cruise for what seems for ever, or boot her hard consistently and she performs flawlessly. Interior is still like new, no rattles of the dash etc. I find her to be nothing but reliable. <runs around house touching every wooden object> Vipes

Apart from the injectors, which we all know are a known problem on the 2002 D5, and I didn't have to pay for anyway, I am very pleased with mine. No other problems thus far. That said, I do feel like I am on tender hooks when a big journey (over 400 miles) is due. Always think something might go wrong on route. However she never gives me any reason to think this, it's only paranoia from reading this forum everyday and reading the problems. Just imagine if I was part of a medical forum :(

Mine was an early car (2001 "Y") and the only thing it ever needed other than consumables and a service in the year I owned it was a rear anti-roll bar linkage which was fair enough given it had done 90,000 miles by then. Cheers, John

I've had mine for two years and about 20-25k with no faults whatsoever. (Touch wood!). The injectors were replaced before I got it (when it was 3 years old), and apart from servicing and regular maintenance (brakes, tyres etc) it has been as good as gold :)

I did 2000 miles in my S60 D5 in the October holidays went like a dream, economical, comfortable, with zero problems. A brillant all round car.
