Hi, I would think that the cost of doing this, for associated parts required and the software upgrade to be installed, would be prohibitive.... Likely more than the car is worth - if it can be done.. Des. . . ;)
Anything CAN be done, but the cost and mechanical/electrical/software involvement would be horrendous. I don't think that is a practical proposition, cheaper to sell the car and buy one with TC fitted!
The v70 T5 (2001) I have has traction control and absolutely love it. On dirt roads you do feel the car start to move about, but once it cuts in...bloody brilliant. Recently coming down a steep descent on a dirt road with heaps of loose gravel, approached this particular corner which descended, tightened and banked out of the turn(i.e tries to throw the car out of the corner)whilst towing a trailler. My immediate thoughts were !1. Don't brake too much or you will jacknife, 2. If you don't start braking and slowing this beastie down you will be off the road. Needless to say Traction control took over and made me look like one of those freakish Finnish drivers. Very comforting and can thoroughly recommend. I can see however, how going hard into a roundabout in the wet and waiting for the traction to cut in could see the alloy rims cop a hiding.
I think you are describing ABS action not traction control.

I would suggest a carefully applied right foot, and learing to drive on dirt / gravel roads in the first place would be a reasonable substitute. But I also accept that lots of people would be lucky to score with one, and helluva lot have no chance with the combination.
