S40/V40 EMS2000 Diagnostics

MessageAuthor

Ok its a bit of along shot but... I was surfing for Volvo help when I found this site. After reading a few threads I realise you guys are hot on diagnostics and all things ECU related. I thought it was worth a go. I develop diagnostic software for various companies and I'm currently working on the S40/V40. I've reverse engineered Fenix 5.1 and EMS2000 for the S40/V40 I have a Sykes Pickevant ACR4 tester as a reference tool. Fenix is ok and sorted. I tested EMS2000 today on a 2003 1.6s engine code B4164S2. I can wake the ECU up read fault codes, perform actuators. The status values are all ok but the analogue values are way off - battery voltage 37.5C, Coolant Temp -48 C, Atmos Pressure 12 kPa The questions are: Is this definitiely an EMS2000 on this car? (Melco 1 has a very similar protocol) Is there more than one type of EMS2000? Has anybody seen similar results with other testers? I've also had trouble finding a V70 with MSA 15.7 Ive tried 2 1999 MY with engine codes D5252T they wake up but don't talk. Any ideas how to tell if they are 15.7 or 15.8? Any help really appreciated Thanks

Wait, I thought that it was not possible to read Fenix 5.1 with anything else than the Volvo scan tool! Fenix 5.1 is not OBD2 compliant so how did you manage to get it readable????? I have an OBD2 harness (autoenginuity) but it can't read my Fenix 5.1. Is there any hope to get it readable with your software or do I need to have the same harness as you (Sykes Pickavant ACR4)??
