t5 & Blue smoke!?!

MessageAuthor

All the cars i've had with those symptoms needed new valve stem oil seals. Good luck!

Strangly enough, it didn't do it this morning! I had thought about valve steam seals, not sure I really want to take the engine apart to do them though! I'll see how it goes

Try buying some FORTE OIL SEAL RENEWER! Put it in mine, and it seems to have calmed it down a bit. If the seals arent perished, but just hard and non rubbery, this stuff can make it rubbery again!! Give it a go. Its about 13quid which is a good gamble vs head off etc. Good luck.. Let me know your result! Justin

At 83 k it's due for maintenance (cleaning) of the water heated PCV nipple on the underside of the inlet manifold above the alternator. Unfortunately the access to it is either to take the inlet manifold or the alternator off. It may be worth taking the manifold off and cleaning the complete PCV system.

Ah! Cheers! hadn't thought of that. Is the Me7 system similar to the earlier set up? I've not done much work on this one but have done a fair bit on my previous 850.

It's similar but not the same. Have a look at the nipple I refered to. You will find three pipes, the outer two are for the water heater and the middle one facing the rear is the vacuum pipe. I've managed to clean mine by pushing the vacuum pipe off the nipple with a screwdriver and using spray carb cleaner and a long straw pushed into the nipple blast out the obstuction. You can then ease the vacuum pipe back on the nipple using the screwdriver. You know if you have been successful as the car will run badly until the carb cleaner has been cleared from the inside of the manifold.
