Two Tone?

One of my friends approx 20 years ago had a 240 estate that was two tone. The car I think was registered in 81 or 82. It was a dealer special called a viking with a maroon top half and brown/beige bottom half. This was done by Barnetts of Dundee.

I can remember seeing two tone 200`s when I was a kid . My uncle had one it was like golden on top and darker on the bottom , so yes Volvo did do them in two tone.

I have seen many two tone 240s over the years, it always seem to be the area below the chrome trim in the second colour, but have never known whether they were factory original or later addition. I suspect on some of the older ones it was done as a means of repainting the bottom half after repairs without problems with colour match. Certainly the right combinations (which is a very personal thing) can look nice. I would go for it if that appeals to you - I nearly went that route with my GLT. Mike

I think that two tone paint jobs look really classy - I love the green/white colour schemes often applied to the Mk1 Lotus Cortinas. My silver GL's paintwork will need some tidying over the next couple of years and I wouldn't mind doing this - perhaps a darker colour on the bottom such as British racing green. I find colour choices difficult as I am slightly colour blind - hence I opt for strong colours.

Ive often though a dark Blue, Powder Blue would look good. Maybe I'll photo shop some 2 tones and post them on here
